Couch reupholstery is stripping a lounge suite back to its wooden frame, repairing that frame, then rebuilding it with new foam and a new cover. Your couch comes off the lounge floor, goes onto our bench in Jabavu, and comes back with new fabric, new foam where it needs it, and a frame we’ve checked joint by joint. We don’t staple new fabric over old.
What happens, step by step
- You send a photo. WhatsApp a picture to 074 019 9297, with the number of seats and what’s wrong. Torn fabric, sagging cushions, peeling leather, a wobbly arm. Kwanele sends you the material options and a quote.
- We come to you with samples. On collection day, Kwanele or one of the team brings the fabric samples in the bakkie. You pick in your own light, next to your own curtains.
- We collect. You don’t carry a thing.
- We strip it to the frame. The old cover and the tired foam come off. Broken rails and loose joints get fixed before anything else happens.
- We rebuild it. New foam, new fabric or leather, piping, buttons or studs if you want them.
- We bring it home. Delivered back to your lounge and put where it goes.
We read back through 128 of our written Google reviews: 24 of them mention collection and delivery. Dani mlambo put it this way:
Kwanele even sent me pictures of my couches when they were busy stripping them apart.

What people bring us
Most of what comes through the workshop is 3-seaters, L-shaped corner units and full lounge suites. We’ve also done chesterfields with deep buttoning, carved antique settees, recliners and pairs of armchairs. Scroll the before-and-after above. The brown pillow-back came back as a grey buttoned chesterfield.
Fabric vs leather
You choose, from samples, at home, in the lounge the piece will live in.
Fabric
Velvets and textured weaves come in the widest range of colours. If kids or dogs use the seats as much as you do, tell us, and we’ll steer you to a weave that wipes clean. Bronwyn Shand had a matching cover made for her dog’s steps, from the same fabric as her lounge suite.
Leather and leather-look
Genuine leather and leather-look both wipe down easily. Lauren Lang had her L-shaped leather couch repaired and the cushions restuffed in the same job. Ask at the sample visit and we’ll show you both side by side, with the price of each for your piece.
When reupholstery isn’t the answer
On the other hand, a rebuild isn’t always worth it. If the frame is snapped chipboard, or you’ve never liked the shape, a new couch is probably better value. Re-covering changes the colour, the fabric and the comfort, not the lines. Send us a photo anyway, and we’ll tell you honestly.
What it costs
Every job is quoted on its own, because a 2-seater with good foam and an L-shape with a cracked frame aren’t the same work. Read what goes into the price, then send a photo for a real number.
Couch reupholstery in Florida and Roodepoort
Florida, Roodepoort, is where most of our work comes from. We fetch your couch from your door, rebuild it in our Jabavu workshop and bring it back on the day you choose. Collection starts at R250. Here’s how a job in Florida works.
Our advice
Lift one front corner and push on the arms before you decide. If the frame feels solid, you should reupholster it: you keep a frame that’s often better than a new budget one, in a fabric you chose. Then WhatsApp us the photo.
Questions we get asked
Do you bring fabric samples to my house?
Yes. We bring the samples when we come to look at the couch, so you choose the colour in the room it lives in. Senzi Zikhali wrote on Google that the team confirmed the fabric was in stock before leaving.
Can you fix the sagging seats while you're at it?
Yes. Sagging seats usually mean the foam is finished, and we replace it before the new cover goes on. If a spring or a frame rail has gone, we fix that first.
How long will I be without my couch?
It depends on the size of the job and whether your fabric is in stock. Kwanele gives you a date when he quotes. Customers on Google have reported anything from the next day to 7 days.
