Terms of service

In short
How quotes, collection, fabric, payment, cancellations and delivery work when we reupholster or repair your furniture in our Jabavu, Soweto workshop.
These terms cover every job we do for you: reupholstery, repairs, refinishing and made-to-measure pieces. They sit alongside your written quote and invoice. If your quote says something different about your job, the quote wins.
Nothing here takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA). Where the CPA gives you more protection, the CPA applies.
1. Quotes
- You can get a quote for free. Send photos on WhatsApp to 074 019 9297, or call.
- We quote from your photos and the details you give us, so we don’t usually need to visit before we give you a price.
- The final price depends on the fabric or leather you choose. We bring the samples on collection day, and we do your invoice once we’ve agreed on the fabric and taken the furniture.
- Your quote lists what we’ll do, the fabric, the price and the date we expect to finish.
- Ask us on WhatsApp how long your quote stays open, and whether VAT is included, before you book.
2. Hidden damage
Some damage only shows once the old fabric is off: a cracked rail, a broken spring, rotten webbing. If we find something like that, we’ll stop, show you a photo and tell you what it’ll cost to fix. We won’t add it to your bill unless you agree. Under CPA section 15, we need your go-ahead before charging more than the quote.
3. Fabric
- You choose from the leather and fabric samples we bring to your home on collection day.
- Fabric colour can vary slightly between a sample and the roll it’s cut from. If the exact shade matters to you, tell us before you choose.
- If your chosen fabric runs out at the supplier before we order it, we’ll tell you straight away and help you choose again.
- Want to supply your own fabric? Ask us about it on WhatsApp before you book.
4. Collection and delivery
- We collect your furniture from your door anywhere in Gauteng, and bring it back when it’s done.
- Collection and delivery are charged on top of the job, by distance. Collection starts at R250.
- Please make sure someone over 18 is home at the times we agree, and that the furniture can get out the way it came in.
- We take care moving your furniture and your home. Tell us about anything tricky (stairs, narrow doors, a security estate that needs our names) before the day.
5. Timing
We give you an expected finish date with your quote. Customers often tell us their furniture came back sooner, but the date on your quote is the one to plan around. If something outside our control holds a job up, like a supplier running late, we’ll tell you as soon as we know and give you a new date.
6. Payment
- We take a 50% deposit when we collect your furniture. Your invoice is done on collection day, and we start work once the deposit is in.
- The balance is due on delivery, after you’ve inspected the work.
- You can pay by EFT, by cash deposit at the bank, or in cash.
Your furniture stays yours the whole time it’s with us.
7. Cancelling
You can cancel a job by WhatsApp, phone or email. CPA section 17 lets us charge a reasonable cancellation fee, depending on how far the job has gone. Once we’ve cut your fabric or started stripping the piece, the costs we’ve already carried can’t be undone.
Ask us on WhatsApp what cancelling would cost at each stage before you book.
8. Furniture that isn’t collected or accepted
If we can’t deliver because nobody’s home, or the balance isn’t paid, we’ll keep your furniture safe in the workshop and contact you to arrange a new date.
If you think you might miss the delivery day, ask us on WhatsApp how a second delivery works before you book.
9. If something isn’t right
Check your furniture when we deliver it. You inspect the work before you pay the balance. If anything isn’t right, then or later, send a photo on WhatsApp to 074 019 9297. We ask what the problem is, and if it’s our fault, we take the furniture back and fix it at no extra cost.
The CPA gives you rights on the work we do. Section 54 entitles you to quality service, and section 57 gives a 3-month warranty on new parts we install during a job, such as foam or springs, unless the damage comes from misuse. Normal wear, pets, sun fading and spills aren’t defects in our work.
On top of that, the couches and chairs we upholster are guaranteed for 12 months from the date of delivery or collection, on frame craftsmanship and filling. For the guarantee to stay in place:
- follow the care instructions in our couch care guide
- keep your invoice, because the guarantee needs proof of purchase
The guarantee doesn’t cover the fabric itself, which wears with normal use at home, or fabric colour fading or changing in the light.
10. Our responsibility
We aren’t responsible for loss that we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen or prevented. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the CPA says it can’t be limited, or where we’ve been negligent.
11. Disputes
If we disagree about a job, talk to us first. Most things are sorted out with a phone call and a visit. If we can’t resolve it, you can contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za). South African law applies to these terms.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page on the day you accept your quote is the one that applies to your job.
