Privacy policy

In short

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you ask us for a quote or book a job, and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

We’re Trysofic Projects, an upholstery workshop on Vundla Street, Jabavu, Soweto 1818. You can reach us on 074 019 9297 or at info@trysoficprojects.co.za.

POPIA makes the head of a business its Information Officer, so our owner is our Information Officer. Reach them on 074 019 9297 or at info@trysoficprojects.co.za.

What this website collects

Nothing you type is stored on this website. The quote form builds a WhatsApp message on your phone, and nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, only after you accept it in the cookie banner, and with Google’s advertising features switched off. There are no advertising trackers. See our cookie notice for what it collects and how to turn it off. Like every website host, the company that serves this site keeps standard server logs (IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type) for security and to keep the site running. We don’t use those logs to identify you.

What we keep when you contact us

When you WhatsApp, call or email us, we keep what we need to quote, collect, fix and deliver your furniture:

We don’t ask for your ID number, and we don’t need anything about your health, religion or finances. Please don’t send it.

Why we use it

We use your details for 4 things: to quote you, to collect and deliver your furniture, to do the job and keep you updated, and to keep the records the law requires, like invoices under the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011. POPIA section 11 allows this because it’s needed to carry out the job you asked for, or to meet a legal duty.

We don’t sell your details, and we don’t pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

Photos of your furniture

We sometimes post before-and-after photos of the furniture we work on, on this website and on Instagram @trysofic_projects. If you’d rather your piece wasn’t shown, or a photo shows you, your family or your house number, tell us when you book or at any time afterwards, and we’ll take it down.

Who else sees your information

How long we keep it

We keep invoices and payment records for 5 years, as tax law requires. Messages and photos about a job are kept while the job is open and for as long as we might need them to answer a question about the work. After that we delete them.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can:

WhatsApp or call 074 019 9297, or email info@trysoficprojects.co.za. We’ll reply as soon as we can.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Keeping it safe

Your details live on our work phones and in our email. POPIA section 19 requires us to keep them safe and confidential, with reasonable steps against loss, damage and anyone getting in who shouldn’t. If we ever find that your information has been exposed, we’ll tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA section 22 requires.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
