24 of the 128 written Google reviews we’ve read mention the collection and delivery. That’s the part of the job most people worry about before they call. How do you get a 3-seater out of a townhouse, and how do you know what’s happening once it’s gone? Here’s the whole thing, start to finish, in the words of people who’ve been through it.
1. The first message
You WhatsApp a photo to 074 019 9297. Amava Bello messaged after hours:
I texted them after hours and got an immediate response (automated) but an actual human reached out within 5 minutes.

With a photo, Kwanele can quote you and book the sample visit.
2. The sample visit
We come to you with the fabric samples, so you choose in your own room. Collection can happen at the same visit. Senzi Zikhali had “an in person consult with all the fabric samples” and the team confirmed the chosen fabric was in stock “before the team left”, with the couch. Bronwyn Shand contacted us in the morning, and by the afternoon the fabric was chosen and the couch was on its way to the workshop.
3. Collection
We load the couch and take it to our workshop in Jabavu, Soweto. You don’t need a bakkie or a spare pair of hands. Kailer Smit called the collection and drop-off “hassle-free”.
4. The rebuild, with updates
This is where the waiting feels longest, so we send updates. Dani mlambo wrote that Kwanele “even sent me pictures of my couches when they were busy stripping them apart”. Sivuyisiwe Dimbaza saw “the sneak peak they’ve provided so far” before the couch came home.
If we find something under the fabric, we’ll tell you. When Amava Bello’s couch was collected, one leg was broken:
When they picked it up, one of the legs on the couch was broken, they replaced it for us and made sure the leg they chose looked just like the originals.

5. Delivery
We bring it back and put it where it goes. Check it over while we’re there. CMP Pilane wrote that the team called a week later to check on the couches.
6 things to do before collection day
- Clear the route. Move anything between the couch and the front door, including rugs, plants and the coffee table.
- Empty the couch. Check down the sides and under the cushions for remotes, coins and earrings.
- Measure the tricky bits. If the couch came in through a window or a narrow passage, tell us. It’ll have to go out the same way.
- Take your own before photos. Jocelyn Brown wrote: “Wish I had a before pic on my phone”. You’ll want one.
- Tell us about pets and kids. It changes which samples we bring. See choosing fabric.
- Mention any deadline. Family visiting, a function, a venue reopening. Say so before we quote, not after.
How long you’ll be without it
That depends on the job and the fabric. Kwanele gives you a date when he quotes. For what 18 customers actually reported, read how long couch reupholstery takes. For the service itself, see couch reupholstery and reupholstery across Johannesburg.
Questions we get asked
Do I need to be home on collection day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. If that can't be you, tell us who it will be.
Will you update me while the couch is in the workshop?
Yes. Dani mlambo wrote that Kwanele sent photos while the couches were being stripped, and Amava Bello received "images and video of the couch with the new fabric on it".
What if something's wrong when it comes back?
Tell us straight away, before we leave if you can. Yonela Tsibolane wrote that when there was a hiccup on delivery, "they took them back and corrected the error".
